Description

This object is a barred spiral ring galaxy located 120 million light years away in the constellation of Perseus at a declination of +46 degrees. This galaxy spans 4 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 130,000 light years. We are viewing this galaxy about 30 degrees from edge-on.

The disk structure includes a strong bar that is encircled by a ring of stars. The outer galaxy disk contains further faint ring segments. A foreground bright blue Milky Way star lies just below the core.

Several other interesting tiny galaxies, many edge-on, are seen in the image.
